Welcome to the Nigerian Student Union
We're excited to announce the launch of our newly formed union at Southeastern Louisiana University! Join us in building a vibrant community that celebrates Nigerian culture, fosters leadership, and creates lasting connections on the SELU campus in Hammond, Louisiana.
Our Formation & Mission
The Nigerian Student Union (NSU) was founded in October 2023 by Oreoluwa Onafowokan and became a recognized organization in October 2024. The union's purpose is to build a vibrant and supportive community for Nigerian students. NSU serves as a home away from home, offering a space where Nigerians can connect, celebrate, and preserve their rich culture while navigating college life. Through cultural events, food, music, and shared experiences, NSU is committed to spreading awareness and appreciation of Nigerian heritage across campus and beyond.
At its heart, NSU exists to foster unity, pride, and belonging among Nigerian students—and to warmly welcome anyone interested in learning about and experiencing Nigerian culture.
